HNA Group

Chinese investment firm HNA Group has boosted their stake in Swiss airport retailer Dufry AG to 20.92 percent with a recent acquisition of a 16.2 percent stake valued to be at $1.4 billion.

A Swiss-based travel retailer that was founded in 1865 and headquartered in Basel, Swizerland, Dufry AG has about 2,200 duty-free and duty-paid shops in various locations in more than 60 countries worldwide. (HNA Group was founded in 2000 and is based in Haikou, China. They are involved in industries like aviation, financial services, real estate, tourism, logistics and more.)

HNA Group, a Chinese holding with different divisions in aviation, capital, tourism and logistics, has acquired Avolon, an aircraft leasing company, for US$2.5 billion.

Established in 2010 and listed on the New York Stock Exchange, Avolon is the 11th largest aircraft leasing company in the world. It has an owned, managed and committed fleet of 260 aircraft, including 143 self-owned aircraft, nine managed aircraft, and 108 aircraft obtained through signed purchase agreements. HNA Group is a Fortune Global 500 company headquartered in Haikou, China. It has annual revenues of $21 billion and had total assets of $76 billion with 110,000 employees across the world.
